Perspective is a photographic series of myself stripped of my clothing with a pillowcase over my head and a lipstick print drawn over the fabric. I lay in bed placing myself in positions where I pull the focus to my body. The pillowcase draped over my head is used to remove my identity and replace it with the feminine qualities of lipstick in contrast to my masculine body. This sexual being without an identity represents my mental perception of how I am viewed as a young homosexual man in a conservative and non-progressive culture. Photographing myself in an objectified and sexualized tone provides perspective and awareness to how the queer community is viewed negatively for being different. I am eager to see an environment where people in the LGBTQ+ community are seen as regular people by everyone.
